After 3 seasons of hating my backpacking stove, I finally switched to a different fuel type and wish I'd done it sooner.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one. I've been using the same old school canister stove for like 8 years and it still works fine for me. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people switch gear way too fast without really figuring out the quirks of what they already own. I mean, I had a buddy who hated his liquid fuel setup until he realized he was just using the wrong kind of pump. Idk, sometimes the frustration is more about user error than the actual stove. Plus the older fuel types are cheaper and way easier to find in random gas stations. I really think if you tweak the technique a bit instead of switching everything, it saves money and hassle in the long run.

Agree with this so much. It's like people think buying new gear will magically fix everything when half the time they just haven't figured out how to use what they've got (and I've definitely been guilty of this myself with other stuff, not just stoves). Really feels like a bigger pattern in life where we jump to replace things instead of learning the quirks, whether it's a car or a phone or even a relationship. Like, yeah, sometimes the old gear is legitimately outdated, but a lot of times it just needs a little patience and a YouTube video or two. Definitely saved myself from dropping cash on a new stove by just figuring out how to clean my jets properly, so I get where you're coming from.
