Burned $80 on a fancy inflatable sleeping pad before I realized my old foam one didn't leak air at 2 AM

After three trips last summer waking up on cold ground with that inflatable flat as a pancake, I finally dug my old closed-cell foam pad out of the garage and slept like a rock on a rainy weekend at Lost Lake, has anyone else given up on air pads for good or am I just bad at picking them?

Ditch the fancy stuff. Foam pads never let you down at 2am.

You ever wake up at 3am with a weird pillow dent in your face and wonder why you spent 80 bucks on that fancy memory foam thing? I was all about the expensive camping pillows for years until my buddy handed me a plain foam pad on a rainy trip. That thing just worked. No sliding around, no weird smells, and it packed flat. Now I keep one in my truck for emergencies. Changed my whole mindset on what "good gear" actually means.
