Found out my 5 year old tent lost 80% of its waterproof rating because I stored it wet one time
I read a blog post from Outdoor Gear Lab last night that explained how UV rays and moisture in storage break down DWR coatings way faster than actual rain does, has anyone else had a tent suddenly start leaking on a trip?

That line about UV rays and moisture breaking down DWR faster than rain is exactly the kind of thing I'm learning the hard way (it's always the small mistakes). It's like how we treat our stuff perfectly on the trip but mess it up the minute we get home.

Exactly, we baby our gear on trail and then toss it in the sun to dry.
