Hit 50 nights camping this year and it finally clicked why my tent poles kept breaking

I do a lot of weekend trips up near Mount Hood and crossed 50 nights out this season last week. Took me until that exact number to realize I was storing my tent poles in the ground sleeve wrong and bending them every time. How many nights did it take you to figure out a gear mistake you kept making?

Fifty nights is a lot, but I think that's more about poor design than user error.

Fifty nights is a lot of time to miss something obvious but I'd argue that's on you for not testing the setup before you left the house. A decent pole sleeve should be pretty idiot-proof and if it's bending your poles every time, you were probably forcing them where they didn't belong.
