I finally stopped using that expensive sleeping pad everyone loves
Last September up at Lost Lake, my fancy $200 inflatable pad went flat at 2 AM. I spent the rest of the night shivering on the ground with my dog using me as a mattress. Switched to a closed cell foam pad and honestly, I sleep better now and don't worry about punctures. Anyone else ditch the high end stuff for something simpler?

learning to sleep on your side with a foam pad" yeah that's the part they don't put on the packaging... took me about three miserable nights at a scout camp before I figured out I could fold the pad in half for extra hip padding. Now I just look like a weirdo sleeping on a folded up blue mat but at least I don't wake up with my arm completely dead.

The real trick is learning to sleep on your side with a foam pad, once you figure that out there's no going back lol. Been using a cheap blue foam one for years now and never wake up with a sore back.
