I skipped the $200 sleeping pad and got better sleep on a $12 foam mat from Walmart
Everyone in my hiking group keeps pushing inflatable pads like the NeoAir XLite, so I bought one and woke up sore for 6 nights on the Ozark Trail in Missouri. I tried a cheap closed cell foam mat from Walmart for $12, and honestly I slept warmer and my back felt fine the whole trip. Maybe the pad hype is about pack size, not comfort? Has anyone else gone back to foam after trying inflatables?
