My buddy Dave insisted lithium batteries are worth the extra cash for cold weather camping

He told me last November to swap my old lead-acid for a LiFePO4 before a trip to Big Bear. Sure enough, temps dropped to 18°F that night and my buddy's battery barely turned over while mine fired right up. Anybody else find lithium really makes a difference below freezing?

Swapped mine to LiFePO4 last winter after dealing with the same struggle. Old lead-acid would barely crank at 20F, but the lithium never flinched even when we hit single digits in Colorado. Biggest thing for me was the weight too, way easier to haul up into the truck bed for weekend trips. Just make sure you get one with low temp cutoff protection so it handles charge cycles right when it's cold.

Yeah I was pretty much in the lead-acid camp for years, thought people were just overselling the lithium hype. But after seeing @noah_barnes's post and my own experience last winter, I totally changed my mind. That extra crank power when it's actually freezing solid is the real deal, and the weight savings just sweetens the deal.
