Question about using a cheap rain fly tie-out repair kit

I patched a tear on my Kelty rain fly with a $8 kit from Walmart and it lasted exactly one night before peeling off in a storm. Has anyone had better luck with a specific brand of patch kits or am I better off just buying a new fly?

Saw a guy on YouTube swear by Tear-Aid patches, said they actually hold.

I tried a Tear-Aid patch on my 10 year old tent last summer, that thing held through a solid 3 days of rain no problem. @tyler614 it's not just hype, the material actually bonds weirdly well to the rubbery tent fabric but you gotta clean the spot real good first or it'll peel. I slapped mine on without prepping and had to redo it, second time after rubbing alcohol and letting it dry it was solid.
