Talked to a park ranger last weekend and now I feel dumb about my tent care
I was out at Big Basin and this ranger casually mentioned most tent failures are from people storing them damp. I always just rolled mine up after trips, never thought about mildew wrecking the waterproofing. Anyone else been doing it wrong this whole time?

Yeah I learned that one the hard way too. Started hanging my tent loose in the garage with the doors unzipped after every trip and it made a huge difference, no more musty smell or wet spots. Just airing it out for a few hours before packing it up keeps the waterproof coating from peeling off.

Hanging it loose is key but just a few hours might not be enough if it's really soaked through.
