That $40 tarp saved my tent from a flooded campsite
Woke up at 3am at Shenandoah National Park last weekend to a downpour... my tent was sitting in a shallow pond. I had this cheap blue tarp from Walmart I almost left behind, laid it under the tent before setup, and everything stayed bone dry inside. Cost about 40 bucks and probably saved me a ruined trip... anyone else swear by a good ground tarp even when the forecast looks clear?

Buddy of mine skipped the tarp once and woke up swimming in his sleeping bag.

Oh man, that is such a relief to hear things stayed dry! I totally learned that lesson the hard way, I went camping in the Smokies a couple years ago. It hadn't rained in like two weeks, so I figured I was good without a tarp. Woke up at 2am with water literally seeping through the bottom of my tent, had to bail everything out into the car. Now I always keep that cheap blue tarp in my car no matter what the forecast says, it's just not worth the risk.
