That $50 sleeping pad liner was a total scam for me
I bought a Therm-a-Rest liner last spring thinking it would add warmth on cold nights, but after 4 trips in the Sierras it barely made a difference and actually made me sweat. The thing cost me $50 and now it just sits in my closet collecting dust. Has anyone actually gotten real use out of these things or did I just buy the wrong kind?

Oh man, that sucks for the price you paid. I mean, I've heard mixed things about those liners too. Some people swear by the Sea to Summit ones for adding like 5-10 degrees, but I think the Therm-a-Rest ones are more for keeping your bag clean than actual warmth. Maybe it's just me but I feel like they'd work better if you got the fleece version instead of the silk one, but even then it's a gamble for $50.

Yeah, like @the_skyler said, those Therm-a-Rest liners are more about keeping your bag clean than adding real warmth. A buddy of mine bought the same one and ended up ditching it halfway through a trip to Yosemite because he was waking up sweaty and cold. He finally just gave it to his brother who uses it as a sack for dirty clothes now.

Huh, thats actually a good point. I used to think those liners were worth it for extra warmth but after reading this and hearing @the_skyler's take Im reconsidering. Might just stick with a cheap cotton sack for cleanliness and save my money.
