TIL most people are overstuffing their sleeping bags and ruining the loft

I see it all the time at trailheads around Mount Rainier, folks just cramming their bag into its sack. That crushes the down fill and kills its ability to keep you warm. I tested my Marmot Never Summer bag after a season of careful hand-stuffing versus my buddy's rough rolling method, and mine still puffed up like new while his was flat. Anyone have a good trick for teaching new campers this without sounding like a know-it-all?

Honestly, how much does it really matter for a weekend trip? I've rolled mine for years and it still works fine.

Rolling a suitcase might seem fine for a weekend, but it can really mess with the wheels and zipper over time. I've seen friends have wheels snap off right at the airport because the stress from rolling wears down the plastic. A jammed zipper from a tight roll is also a huge pain when you're trying to pack in a hurry. It's worth the extra minute to fold properly, skyler_kim15, to avoid those last-minute disasters.
