Water weight ratings on my tent bag were way off
I weighed my 3-person tent after a wet weekend in the Smokies and it came in at 9.2 pounds, but the tag said 6.8. I used a luggage scale, so I'm pretty confident. Has anyone else found that manufacturers fudge these numbers, or did I just get a weird batch?

Did you weigh it right after packing up, or after you got home and it had a chance to dry out some? The tag weight is usually for a bone dry tent, and 2.4 extra pounds sounds about right for a soggy fly and floor. I'm just wondering if the scale was picking up more than just the tent itself, like a wet footprint or stakes.
