Can we agree old school paper maps beat GPS on logging roads?
Was out near the Kootenays last weekend and my buddy’s phone died 30 clicks into a backwoods trail. Pulled out my old laminated map from 2015 and got us back to camp in 20 minutes while he was still trying to reboot his unit. The Garmin we use now is fine for highways but misses half the side tracks in BC. Anyone else still keep a paper backup in their ATV?

Whoa, you still have a map from 2015?! That thing must be ancient by now!

Old school paper maps for sure but only for the real backcountry. Your buddy's phone dying at 30 clicks is exactly why I never leave home without a proper map. Those old laminated ones from 2015 still show logging spurs that GPS companies forgot about years ago. A Garmin is great on pavement but it's useless when you're bushwhacking through BC and the trail splits into three unmarked forks.
