Got stuck in a bog near Timmins last fall and learned why you never ride alone
I was out on a trail I'd done a dozen times before near the Mattagami River. Hit a soft patch I didn't see and sunk the quad up to the racks in about 3 seconds. No cell service, nobody around for 45 minutes until some moose hunter with a winch pulled me out. Now I always pack a tow strap and a handheld radio. Anyone else had a close call riding solo in northern Ontario?

Yeah that bog near Timmins is no joke. I got stuck in muskeg up by Pickle Lake a few years back and it was the same deal. Quad went down so fast I barely had time to jump off. I started carrying one of those cheap air horns in my pack after that. Theyre loud enough to get attention if someone's within a mile or so. Also learned to stop and check the ground before crossing any low spots with dark green grass. That slimy looking stuff is pretty much always a trap.
