My uncle's ATV mudding tip nearly drowned my quad in Timmins
My uncle Ron swore up and down that spraying WD-40 on your air filter keeps mud from clogging it. I tried it out on a trail near Timmins last weekend and ended up hydro-locked in a bog after 10 minutes. Cost me $300 to tow it out of there. Has anyone else fallen for a bogus trick like this?

Watched my buddy try using duct tape to seal his airbox before a mud run. He sucked water through a pinhole in 5 minutes and bent a rod.

Was it actually a bent rod though? Water in the intake usually blows a head gasket first or cracks a piston before it bends a rod. The rod bending part usually happens when the engine locks up at high RPM. Maybe your buddy got lucky and it was just a hydrolocked cylinder that freed up after pulling the plugs. If that airbox seal was really that bad, the water would of hit the intake manifold straight away. Still sucks either way.
