My wife's old mud tires finally gave up near Bancroft last weekend

I always figured cheap tires were fine for weekend riding, but after sliding sideways on a wet log bridge I finally swapped to proper radials. Has anyone else noticed a big difference switching from bias ply to radial tires on rocky trails?

That log bridge turned into a real quick "balance or regret" situation. Sounds like a solid core workout with extra panic.
