Spent 45 minutes digging my ATV out of a bog in northern Alberta last Sunday

I thought I knew this trail near Fort McMurray like the back of my hand, but a beaver dam had shifted the water flow and turned a dry patch into deep mud. It took me almost an hour with a winch and a lot of cussing to get the machine free, which killed half my riding time. Has anyone else had a hidden trail hazard ruin a whole afternoon like that?

See I kinda disagree here man. 45 minutes with a winch sounds almost like a good time to me. Half the fun of riding up there is figuring out how not to get stuck and when you do get stuck it just makes the story better later. I've wasted whole afternoons hauling machines out of muskeg and honestly that's just part of the deal when you ride up north.
