Tried a cheap CVT belt from Amazon vs a Gates belt... never again

Bought a no-name belt for my 2014 Polaris Sportsman last spring after the Gates one started slipping. Paid $35 vs $120. Lasted maybe 4 trips up near Cochrane before it snapped clean in half on a logging road. Had to walk 3 km back to the truck. Swapped back to Gates and it's been fine for 6 months now. Anyone else learn the hard way that cheap belts aren't worth it on these machines?

My 2009 Outlander 650 has been running Amazon special belts for two seasons now. I paid $28 and keep a spare in the toolbox. The trick is not to abuse it. If you're doing heavy mud or steep logging roads in Cochrane, yeah, you need the Gates. But for casual trail riding and putting around the cottage, the cheap ones hold up fine if you don't hammer the throttle from a dead stop.
