Honestly thought opening cans was quick until I had to open 8 cans of tomatoes for a chili batch
Ngl, I always figured opening a can takes like 10 seconds max. But last Sunday I needed 8 cans of crushed tomatoes for a big chili cookoff and my manual can opener broke after can number 3. Had to use a backup P-38 military opener I keep in the drawer and each can took me nearly 2 minutes. The whole process ended up taking 25 minutes just to open all 8 cans, which felt ridiculous. So now I'm thinking about getting an electric can opener but not sure if it's worth it for just occasional big batches. Anyone else run into this problem with a cheap can opener dying mid-project?

Oh man, the P-38 brings back some memories. I used to carry one of those in my camping gear and they work fine for a can or two but 8 cans with one sounds like a real workout for your fingers. Honestly I think the cheap electric openers are hit or miss too my buddy bought one from Walmart and it died after maybe 10 total uses. If I were you I'd just grab a halfway decent manual one that's built better like a Oxo or something folks say they last forever and you won't have to plug anything in.
