I visited a hostel in Austin that claimed canned food dinners were lazy, and I gotta disagree hard

They said opening a can of chili and beans over rice wasn't real cooking, but after a 12 hour bus ride that meal saved my budget and my sanity. Has anyone else run into people acting like canned meals aren't legit?

Canned food is basically just meal prepping with extra steps and zero effort.

skylerc86 said "extra steps and zero effort," which is funny because I tried meal prepping once and ended up eating the same chili for five days straight. With canned food at least you can switch it up without planning ahead. I actually keep a few cans of diced tomatoes and black beans around for when I'm too tired to cook but still want something warm. Not exactly gourmet but it works in a pinch.
