Just realized the $60 countertop can opener I bought was a total waste
I bought one of those fancy electric can openers about 4 months ago because I thought it would make prepping canned chili and soups faster after work. It jammed on the very first can of black beans and left a jagged edge that cut my thumb. I ended up spending $25 at urgent care for a bandage and tetanus check, plus the $60 for the opener itself. Last week I dug out my grandma's old manual opener from a junk drawer and it worked in about 8 seconds flat. The electric one is now sitting in a box by my trash can, and I feel dumb for ever thinking I needed it. Does anyone actually have an electric opener that works, or are they all just garbage?
Sounds like you just got a bad one honestly. My mom has had the same electric opener for like 10 years and it still works fine on everything. Sixty bucks is a lot to drop on something you use for chili though, let alone cutting yourself on it. I get being mad but writing off every electric opener because one jammed seems like a stretch. A manual one costs five bucks and lasts forever, so why spend sixty in the first place. Live and learn I guess but I would not call the whole product type garbage over one bad can of beans.
