Saw a post saying canned tuna is always the same quality no matter the brand

I bought 3 different store brands last month and each one had totally different texture and taste. The $0.79 can was watery mush while the $1.29 one had actual chunks that held together. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just unlucky with my store?

Gonna push back on this one. If you're buying the absolute cheapest can, yeah you get what you pay for. But most store brands are made in the same factories as the name brands, just with a different label. I've done taste tests with friends and nobody could tell the difference between Great Value and Bumble Bee when both were drained and mixed into a salad. The texture thing sounds more like luck of the catch than a brand issue to me.

Honestly, I gotta agree with you on the texture thing. Like they said, "luck of the catch" is a real factor people don't think about. For me, I found that sticking with tuna packed in olive oil instead of water made a way bigger difference than the brand name ever did. The oil helps keep the flakes from turning to total mush no matter what can I grab. Tbh, I used to swear by the expensive stuff until I switched to oil-packed store brand and saved like fifty cents a can.
