Vent: All these years I never drained the canned beans

I was over at my sister's place last Tuesday making tacos and she watched me dump a can of black beans straight into the skillet. She just stared at me. She said 'you know that liquid is full of sodium and makes everything soggy right?' And I honestly never even thought about it. I've been doing that for like 15 years. All that extra liquid ruining my chili and soups and I just thought it was normal. Now I rinse them every time and everything tastes way better and less salty. Has anyone else had a moment where you found out you were doing something simple totally wrong like that?

My buddy Matt didn't know you're supposed to peel garlic before putting it in the press. He was smashing whole cloves skin and all for years wondering why his garlic press kept breaking.

Peeling first? Man, that explains why my press looks like it went through a war.
