I finally tried reaching out to ex-coworkers for referrals and it actually worked
About a month ago, I was job hunting and super skeptical about asking people I hadn't talked to in years for a referral. I figured they'd either ignore me or think I was just using them. But I messaged a guy I worked with back in 2021 at a restaurant in Denver, just a simple hey remember me thing. He not only replied within a day but also got me an interview at his new company within two weeks. Has anyone else had luck reconnecting with old colleagues after a long gap?

That 2021 connection was probably the sweet spot before everyone got sick of job hopping.

People were really out here switching jobs like they were changing socks. Couldn't even keep track of who worked where anymore.
