That guy at my old job said I'd regret ignoring his networking advice

Mike, my lead at a call center in Phoenix, kept telling me to connect with people outside our department. I blew him off for like 8 months because I thought it was a waste of time. Then my whole team got laid off last April and I had zero contacts to call for a new job. Has anyone else had someone shove good advice at them that they just ignored?

Eight months ignoring good advice? That's a long time to waste.

30% of people take over a year to change a big habit, so eight months is actually pretty normal progress. Small steps still move you forward, even if it looks slow from the outside.

Eight months sober from bad decisions? That's like a lifetime in procrastination years lol. Honestly though, I'm way better at ignoring advice than following it. My record is probably closer to a decade for some stuff. But hey, slow progress still counts as progress, right? Even if it's the kind where you're crawling and everyone else is sprinting past you.
