That one interview where the hiring manager straight up lied to me
I was at a small tech startup in Austin 6 months ago and the guy told me the company had solid funding for 2 years, but I found out later from a friend they were basically broke. He kept saying "we're growing fast" but the whole vibe was off, like he was trying to sell me a used car. Has anyone else had a hiring manager feed them obvious lies just to get you in the door?

Wait, "solid funding for 2 years" from a small startup? That's actually a red flag right there. Most startups barely plan six months out, let alone give a hard two year timeline like that. It sounds like he was just trying to sound stable when the place was clearly drowning. The used car salesman vibe is spot on, I think a lot of hiring managers treat interviews like a sales pitch instead of a real conversation.

Totally this, @the_simon. I had a CEO once tell me they had "years of runway" and then the place imploded 4 months later, classic sales pitch nonsense.
