Those $400 industry certification courses are a total scam if you ask me

I dropped $450 on a project management cert last spring and got zero callbacks, but my buddy who took a free YouTube course and spent $50 on a practice exam landed a job at a tech firm after 3 months of applying - has anyone else had way better luck with cheap or free resources than expensive credentials?

Your buddy's story sounds all too familiar honestly. I've seen way more people break into new roles with cheap self-study than expensive certs, your mileage may definitely vary on those $400 courses.

Totally agree with @robin_foster1, I built my whole career on cheap books and free webinars.
