Vent: Internship went from chaos to smooth in 6 weeks flat

Started a marketing internship in Austin 3 months ago and the first 2 weeks were a disaster - nobody told me the project priorities. By week 8 I had built my own checklist system and got 5 tasks done ahead of schedule. Has anyone else had to fix their own onboarding process?

Didn't you think fixing bad onboarding was just part of the job until you had to do it yourself?

Yeah, Matthew, that "fix your own onboarding" part really hit me too. I had the exact same thing happen at my last internship where nobody gave me a project tracker or anything, so I ended up building my own system in Google Sheets with color coded priorities (which I still use today honestly). The trick is to keep it simple and check in with your manager weekly to make sure you're not missing anything. Once you take that control yourself, everything starts clicking way faster.
