Went from job hopping every 6 months to 3 years at the same place. Here's what changed.
I used to burn out or get bored around month 5 and bounce, but then I started asking for a specific raise and title change at month 3 instead of waiting. Has anyone else found that just being upfront about what you want early makes you actually want to stay?

Asking early just gives them more time to figure out how to string you along.

Is it possible that asking early just makes you feel more in control, so the job doesn't feel like a trap anymore? Like, when you have a clear plan and they're on board, it's way easier to tolerate the boring parts.

Oh man, you might be onto something there. I remember when I was stuck at this place where every Monday felt like I was walking into a trap, you know? Then I asked about a timeline for a possible move and just having that conversation changed how I felt about the whole thing. It wasn't even about getting a yes or a no, it was more like... I dunno, knowing the worst case felt less scary than the unknown. Like when you're waiting for a test result and the waiting itself is worse than the answer. So yeah, asking early might give you that little bit of control, even if the job still sucks.
