Why I chose a pay cut for a 4-day work week and don't regret it

Everyone at my old job in Atlanta thought I was making a big mistake. I left a 65k salary for a 52k one just to get Fridays off. After 8 months, I can say it was the right call for me. My stress levels dropped a lot and I actually have time to see my doctor and fix things around the house. Sure, the money is tighter and I had to cut back on eating out. But I ask myself, how much is your time really worth? Has anyone else traded salary for schedule and felt good about it?

Have you ever had a friend do something similar? My buddy Mark took a 15% pay cut to switch to four tens instead of five eights just so he could have every Friday for his woodworking hobby. He said the first few months were rough on his budget but now he can't imagine going back to the grind of a regular 9-5.
