Appreciation post: that older framer who corrected my nail spacing
I was on a job last month over in Elmwood, putting up wall sheathing on a townhouse row. This old timer named Gary walked by, saw my 6-inch spacing on the edges, and just shook his head. He told me to go 4 inches for better load transfer and less cracking over time. I brushed it off at first, but then I checked the code manual that night and he was dead right. Has anyone else had a seasoned carpenter totally change how you do a basic step like that?

4 inches vs 6, that's just a preference thing really.

10 inches is where the real difference shows up @wright.drew. I've tried both and 6 feels way more stable in uneven concrete. 4 just leaves you chasing the low spots all day long.
