Nearly lost a finger to a kickback on a jobsite in Austin last Tuesday

I was trimming some oak baseboards with a circular saw when the blade pinched and threw the board back at me. Missed my hand by maybe an inch because I was standing off to the side. Has anyone else had close calls with kickback on smaller trim pieces?

Kickback's no joke man. I've had it happen twice on a miter saw cutting small crown molding pieces. The thing is, most guys don't realize how fast a saw can throw a piece back at you. It's like a spring loaded trap. You always gotta stand to the side and keep a good grip even on little scraps. I see it all the time at hardware stores where guys just lazily feed a board through without paying attention. Safe is better than sorry with any blade spinning that fast.

Nearly lost a finger" makes me glad I'm an accountant instead.
