Overheard a foreman on a Denver high-rise say they are skipping expansion gaps in the subfloor to save time

I was loading plywood near the elevator shaft and caught him telling his crew to just butt the sheets tight because "the drywall guys will hide it," but has anyone else run into moisture buckling down the line from cheap shortcuts like that?

Every foreman on every job cuts corners sometimes, it's how they hit deadlines." But honestly, if that subfloor is on a concrete deck with a vapor barrier and the building is climate controlled, a tight butt joint probably isn't going to buckle from moisture anyway, right? lol

Tight joints on a slab are fine 99% of the time.
