That time a joist hanger almost took my thumb off

Up in Portland last winter I was nailing hangers on a deck rebuild and a hanger slipped sideways, drove a 16-penny right through my thumb nail. Had to finish the row one-handed while the rag soaked red before I could get to urgent care. Has anyone else had a fastener go rogue on a cold morning?
