That week I spent more time fixing a bad glue-up than actually building the cabinet
Last Tuesday I poured a whole tube of Titebond II onto a face frame because I didn't check the bottling date, and it had separated so bad the glue was basically water. Ended up having to plane off 3 joints on a walnut cabinet I was doing for a client in Boulder, lost a full day and 40 bucks in material. Anyone else ever get a bad batch of glue or am I just unlucky?

Did you use a moisture meter on the wood before the glue-up?

Wait wait wait, hold up. You used a moisture meter? Honestly, I've been building stuff for like five years now and I never even thought about that for a glue-up. Ngl, I just kinda grab the wood, give it a quick look, and if it's not soaking wet I just glue it right up. Tbh, I bet most people here are the same way, right? I mean, I get that it matters for like flooring or final finish work, but for a glue joint? I'm genuinely shocked anyone actually takes the time to do that. Maybe I'm the one doing it wrong, but that just sounds like overkill to me.
