Thought hand-nailing trim was for old timers until a guy in Boise showed me his corner joints
Spent 3 days last week on a 1920s craftsman where the homeowner wanted no visible fasteners on the window casing, and I was dreading it. A retired carpenter down the street lent me his 8oz finish hammer and showed me how he backs out the nail heads with a catspaw instead of filling them, joints came out so tight you couldn't slide a receipt in there. Has anyone else switched back to hand nailing after years with a 16 gauge?
