Traded my speed square for a digital angle finder last month on a deck build in Portland

I used to mark every rafter angle by eye and double check with a speed square, but it took forever. Got a Klein digital angle finder for $60 at the supply house and it cut my layout time by half. Has anyone else made the switch or do you still trust the old school methods?

Ah, I went through that same switch a few years back. The digital finder is nice for speed but keep a speed square in your bag for when the battery dies or the screen fogs up on you.

Man, it's funny you say that because I've noticed this same thing everywhere lately. Like with my dad's old Polaroid camera sitting next to my phone, or how my buddy still carries a paper map in his glove box even though he's got GPS. There's just something about having that backup that's not a backup, you know? It's like we're all learning that the shiny new stuff is great until it's not, and the old ways stick around for a reason. My uncle still uses a hand plane after buying a power planer because when the motor hums wrong, he's got that old trusty thing to fall back on.
