Wasted $80 on a fancy stud finder that couldn't find a 2x4 in a cardboard box

I picked up this top-of-the-line stud finder from the big orange store last month, thought it would save me time on a bathroom remodel. Spent 20 minutes waving it over the same section of drywall, getting different readings every pass. Finally got so frustrated I poked a test hole with a nail and found the stud was 6 inches off from where the thing said. Took it back the next day and went back to my old magnet trick, haven't missed a stud since. Anyone else ditch the electronic gadgets for the simple stuff?

Gotta laugh at myself for spending $80 on a thing that's basically a fancy magic wand, when my grandpa's old fridge magnet could've done the job in 2 seconds. My wife still cracks up every time I tell that story.

I spent $40 on a fancy wine opener that looks like a spaceship, but my buddy's keychain corkscrew works faster and never runs out of battery. I keep that dumb thing around just to remind myself that some purchases are really just paying for the packaging and the "convenience" markup.
