A floor inspector told me my seams were too tight, he was right
This old inspector, guy must have been doing this for 30 years, stopped by a job I was doing over in Tacoma last month. He watched me stretch a piece and then said, 'You're pulling that seam too tight, it'll split in a year.' I figured he was just one of those old timers who thinks everything should be done their way. But I backed it off a half inch like he said, and I'll be honest, that install laid down flatter than any I've done before. A tight seam can make the whole room look wavy, especially on a warm day. He also told me to use a smaller power stretcher tooth setting on plush carpet, which I never would have tried. Has anyone else had an inspector give them advice that actually made their work better? I'm curious if that's a common thing or if I just got lucky.
