A lady in Charlotte said my seams looked 'like a magic trick' and it made my whole month
She watched me seam a 12-foot run in her living room and just kept saying 'I don't see it' over and over. Honestly, what's the best compliment you've ever gotten on a job?

Honestly, that's a great feeling. Tbh the best ones are when people just stand there quiet for a minute after you finish. Had a guy once just say 'clean' and walk away, and it meant more than a whole speech. Makes all the prep and careful cutting feel worth it. Those little moments of someone really seeing the work, that's the real payoff.

Oh man, that's the best feeling. I mean, my version of that is when someone leans in super close, squints, and then just goes "huh." Makes me feel like I just pulled off some tiny, perfect con, but with caulk instead of cards. Idk, maybe it's just me but those confused compliments are way more real than someone trying to sound smart about it.

That "clean" and walk away moment you mentioned is perfect. I read an article once where a carpenter said his favorite feedback wasn't praise, it was when a client just ran their hand over a finished surface without saying anything. That silent touch means they're feeling the quality, not just looking at it. It's like they're checking the work on a whole different level. Those quiet reactions always stick with you more than someone just saying "good job.
