Clients Yorkie mix decided my stretcher was a fire hydrant

Mid-install in a 3rd floor walkup near Portland, this little dog walks right over and pees on my power stretcher handle, not even 10 minutes after I laid the pad. Owner just laughed and said he does that to anything that smells new, so I spent 20 minutes scrubbing it with enzyme cleaner from my truck. Anyone else ever have a pet claim their gear mid-job, and how do you keep them from doing it again without offending the client?
