Hit my 100th straight seam without a single callback last Friday
I've been doing carpet for about 8 years now and I always keep a tally of jobs where I don't get any callbacks on seams. Last Friday I hit my 100th straight seam with zero issues. It felt pretty good considering I had a rough stretch last year where I had three seams come apart in two months. Turns out I was using the wrong tape for the padding underneath. Switched to a heavier adhesive tape and my seams have been rock solid ever since. Anyone else keep track of their own little stats like this or am I just weird?

Track your tape lot numbers too. Bad batches happen.

Lot numbers are overkill for most home projects. If you're not doing pro-level work, the tape is fine as long as it's not expired or stored in a hot car.
