Job in a new subdivision taught me a lesson about subfloors

I pulled up carpet in a brand new house near Austin last month, and the padding was already wet from a bad concrete pour. The builder swore it was dry, but a moisture meter said 18 percent. How do you handle pushback from builders who don't want to wait for things to cure?

Man that's brutal. Builders can be such a pain when they're trying to rush the timeline and you're just trying to do the job right. Really feel for you dealing with that kind of pushback.

Has anyone had luck getting builders to sign off on a moisture guarantee before starting the work? @christopher_west1 nailed it about the timeline push, but I've found that having a written agreement upfront about acceptable moisture levels makes it harder for them to argue later. A simple clause in the contract can save a lot of headaches when their concrete is still green.
