Just found out my carpet knife blade can last 3x longer with one trick

I read on a forum last night that if you store blades in a dry place with a little oil, they don't get that rust buildup that dulls them early. How do you guys keep your blades sharp between jobs?

Honestly, is there anything more satisfying than a fresh blade versus trying to force a dull one through thick carpet? It’s like fighting a losing battle. Ngl, I had to learn that lesson the hard way after ruining three blades in one job. @simontorres knows what's up with that 3-in-1 oil trick, I started doing that last year and it's a total game changer. Tbh, I’m still mad at myself for the years I spent just tossing them in a damp toolbox like a dummy.

I feel your pain on this one, dull blades are a real drag. A little squirt of 3-in-1 oil on the blade before you store it makes a world of difference in my experience. It takes thirty seconds but saves you from that frustrating drag when you're halfway through a cut.
