Power stretcher vs knee kicker for stairs, the knee kicker lost bad last week

I tried using just a knee kicker on a set of 14 stairs in a house downtown and it took me twice as long as usual because the padding was so thick. Switched to a power stretcher with the stair attachment and the wrinkles just melted away. Anyone else skip the knee kicker on stairs now?

Whoa, slow down there! I mean, a knee kicker not working great on super thick padding sounds like a pain, but saying the power stretcher "won" and the kicker "lost bad" feels a little dramatic. I've done a ton of stair jobs with just a knee kicker and never had "wrinkles" that needed melting unless I was rushing or using a worn out block. On a standard 14 stair run, a knee kicker is usually fine unless the carpet is like two inches thick. Maybe the real issue was the install technique or the carpet type, not the tool itself. Just seems like a bit of an overreaction to me.

12 stairs with a knee kicker and never once had an issue either, honestly.
