Pro tip: Found out I was stretching carpet wrong after 9 years
Been installing carpet since 2014 and always used a knee kicker to stretch widthwise. Last month on a job in Phoenix a 20 year veteran watched me work and just laughed. He showed me I should be stretching lengthwise with the grain first and the whole job went way smoother. Anyone else have a basic technique they did backwards for way too long?

Oh man that's a good one! I was doing drywall mudding for like 5 years before someone told me I was putting it on way too thick. I thought more mud meant less coats but it just meant more sanding and a ton of dust everywhere. Once I started doing thin coats and letting them dry properly my jobs looked way cleaner and I actually finished faster. Sometimes the simple stuff you never think to question just sticks with you forever huh?

Man, that's just how life works though - we all do stuff on autopilot until someone points it out.
