Showerthought: I was wrong about how much waste carpet padding creates

I was cleaning out my truck after a job in Tacoma and weighed all the old pad scraps. It came to 85 pounds from just one 400 square foot install. I looked it up later and read that padding makes up about 15% of landfill waste from carpet jobs. I always figured the carpet itself was the main issue. Has anyone found a good way to recycle this stuff locally, or is it just trash for you too?

Yeah that's wild, I had the same shock last year. Weighed a pile of scraps from a small office job and it was way heavier than I expected. Just toss it in the dumpster here too, no clue where to recycle it.

Saw a thing online about some hardware stores taking old metal for recycling.
