That old installer's trick about stretching from the middle saved my back
This guy named Hank who's been laying carpet since the 80s told me to always start stretching from the middle of the room instead of the wall... I thought he was crazy but tried it on a tricky living room job last week and it worked way better. Now I'm wondering if there are other old school tips like that I should be using. Anyone else gotten advice that sounded weird but turned out golden?

My buddy swore by rubbing a bar of soap on his screws before driving them in, and I thought he was nuts until it actually worked.

Oh, you tried it too? That soap trick saved me on a kitchen cabinet project last month. Couldn't believe how smooth those screws went in, no stripping or fighting at all.
