Took me 3 hours to figure out a simple seam issue

I was installing a 12 foot seam in a bedroom and the pattern just wouldn't line up no matter what. Turns out the roll had been stored wrong and had a slight twist in it. Has anyone else dealt with a twisted roll messing up their seams?

Yeah but sometimes it's not the roll, it's how the drywall itself is hung...

Oh man, I've gotta push back a little on that one. I've seen so many twisted rolls over the years (especially from big box stores, you know how they stack stuff) that it's usually the first thing I check when a seam goes wonky. If your drywall is hung straight and the seams are butted tight, a twisted roll will still give you that ripple or gap no matter how perfect the mud work is. I literally had a 10 foot seam last week where the tape kept buckling on me, and sure enough, the roll was just sitting wrong on the shelf. It's frustrating when people blame the hanging when sometimes the material itself is just garbage.
